We are passionately driven by one cause, peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential
AIESEC was established after World War II, where seven youth across seven countries had a dream of building cross-cultural understanding across nations. They hoped to change the world, one person and one internship at a time.
Formation of AIESEC in SA.
AIESEC is present in 50 countries and territories across six continents! To this date, over 40,000 young people around the world had participated in a leadership development experience.
A mid-term ambition for the global network is created in Durban, South Africa that would see the organisation drive more leadership experience through to 2005.
AIESEC crosses 10,000 experiences delivered in one year alone for the first time. By now, over 230,000 experiences have been provided, all facilitated by youth for youth.
In 2015, AIESEC’s youth leaders from 126 countries and territories in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth gathered at the United Nations Headquarters to promote and drive youth participation in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The relevance and contribution of AIESEC is clearer than ever.
The big question. Will you join us?
“The AIESEC way is to strive for peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential. We do this by creating opportunities for cross-cultural exchanges”
In AIESEC, we believe that youth are the key to shaping a better future. Through each and every experience we provide, we strive to develop youth leaders with the following qualities.
Ability to Empower Others: Communicates clearly, engages in meaningful conversations, and creates spaces that empower others to take action.
Solution Oriented: Flexible, ready to take risks, and actively finds solutions to challenges.
World Citizen: Aware of global events and enjoys taking an active role in contributing towards making it a better place for everyone.
Self Aware: Understands personal strengths, lives by his/her values and constantly explores passions.
Can you imagine the world when we engage and develop every young person to obtain these qualities? We want to see a brighter future for all. This is why we do what we do.
